The (Publishing) World is Flat(ish) #2

Ah.

Scarrybookseller_1One of the busiest days of the year and I appear to be on my own. Hmm...

The illustration is, of course, taken from Busiest People Ever by the genius Richard Scarry. I love the expression on the bookman's face; that happy optimism even though it is 3 in the afternoon and he is still waiting for a 9 box delivery, and the one customer who has called in to wish him the compliments of the season has just returned from the Post Office with a big brown box under his arm.

Next weekend will be "interesting" when some "customers" realise that their Basin brown boxes are not going to arrive in time.

Her ladyship arrives this morning and takes the last place in the town's free car-park : sees me putting away pocket diaries - and why are they not out...but they are dear, these are only back-up - ordered yesterday by a mad bookseller (heck, I'd better not tell her that yesterday I also ordered some more Man Ray calendars as well as all those books).

Happy optimism indeed, but that is all part of being independent !!
