Given that the weather forecast was rain, rain, a timid sun peeping over a rain cloud, and more rain, ditto packing list for the New Forest.
And given that the house we are billeted at is beside the sea and my dad lives nearby on the beach, ditto packing list for Spain.
Then test the suspension on the Squashed Tomato by throwing in wetsuits, walking boots, buckets & spades…
And all the kids….
This is what I actually wore in Aldeburgh
Given that I had in mind a vision of lovely Englishness, in soft-focus floral prints & cardis, forever on the brink of a kiss like Anna Friel or Keira Kitestring, when actually dressed in the layers necessary to be equally prepared for sunshine and showers, walking and cycling, I looked more like Chris Boardman in fancy dress as Sue Pollard.
I wore all of it in various combinations, like a paper doll with multiple tabs on the shoulders. The wetsuit, however, languished in the bag (but no worries, as of next week it would be getting a chlorine hammering in the pool anyway). Either way, I neither resembled an English rose nor behaved like one. Plus ca change..
Such a lovely vacation.
